Route 66 was a mostly two lane highway that extended from Chicago to Los Angeles, through Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, before gradually giving up to the modern interstate. Most of the old pavement is still there, and can be followed with the right maps and directions. I drove the entire length of old 66 in 2012, and invite you to follow along!

Missouri Route 66 - Lebanon
LEBANON, MISSOURI. A friendly motel on top of the hill. The roots of the Munger Moss Motel date back to a BBQ joint in Devil's Elbow, Missouri, way back in the 1930's. When business there dried up in the 1940's, the owners took the name with them and built a motel in nearby Lebanon, where it is still going strong. Things are going so well they have a website - something quite unimaginable during the height of 66 popularity. So is the advertised free Wi-Fi. Of course if you decide to stop there for the night, ask for the Route 66 Room!
